Featurecam has a special tool for
determining the curvature of surfaces.

This is especially useful for
determining the size of ball endmill you can fit into a radius
- for example , the bottom radius of a cavity.
3. This tool is found on
the geometry toolbar. (Version 6 & 7 also have this in
the Steps Menu under Geometry)
4. The
curvature tool gives you the radius of curvature for the
surface in 2 directions. When you select the curvature
button, click on the part of the surface you want to check.
The bottom of your screen will display something similar to the
following "Radius of Curvature AXIS

AXIS2:.2500
5. This tells us
that the largest tool we can fit into the corners of the cavity
can have a .250 radius (1/2 inch ball endmill).
