Here we will show you how to use our new AFR for
complex holes. Please note that you will need
to use V12.2.0.16 or higher.
This new feature requires the use of a new addin
(get it
here). You should use
this
sample SW file and
this toolcrib containing the curves being
used to create the port tools.
After downloading all the necessary files
follow these steps:
- Save SAE port holes.bas.txt. Once this
file has been saved, rename it to SAE port
holes.bas
- Open FeatureCAM, New document -> Milling
- Go to Options -> addins -> select the
addin from the list (this is very important,
the addin needs to be selected and active
before importing the model
- Import the attached test.sldprt file
- Orient the Z axis, and either recognize
the features from SW or let FeatureCAM
recognize the features at a later time using
AFR
- Once FeatureCAM creates the features you
should see port operations instead of holes
Notes:
-
FeatureCAM
will recognize only port types that have
been properly defined in the API. As you add
new port size information to the addin,
FetaureCAM will recognize more types of
ports.
- Make sure that you set maximum hole
diameter to be very large during the
recognition process. For example, if
FeatureCAM thinks that holes larger than 1
inch are to be milled, then a milled feature
will be made and your custom hole matching
will not be used.
